About the EIR Program

Pursue your Entrepreneurial Aspirations

The EIR program has been conceived to inspire the best talent to be entrepreneurs by supporting them with mentorship, access to office space and guidance. It also offers a monthly fellowship amount ranging from Rs10,000pm to Rs30,000pm for an year to minimize the risk involved in pursuing start-ups, and to partially set off their opportunity costs of high paying jobs. The program has been introduced by NSTEDB, Govt. of India.
The NIDHI-EIR programme provides tremendous opportunities for innovative entrepreneurs to expand their networks and get critical feedback on their ventures in order to promote their entrepreneurial career goals and aspirations

Incubation Space

EIRs get incubation space, access to group knowledge sessions and pitch review at incubation centre in Jaipur

    Following are the requirements for EIR applicants/candidates-
  • They should be citizen of India.
  • They should have completed their undergraduate/post graduate education in Science or Engineering fields.
  • Final year students are not eligible to apply.
  • They are expected to pursue their entrepreneurial aspirations full time and should not treat it as a stop gap arrangement or as a support in academic pursuits or transition between jobs.
  • They should demonstrate their ability to build a scalable technology business startup.
  • Preference shall be given for a) technology business ideas with larger technology uncertainties and/ or long gestation periods, b) technology business ideas leveraging technology or IP from publicly funded research or academic organizations, c) technology business ideas with considerable potential for social impact.
  • Entrepreneurs pursuing business ideas with no or marginal technology innovation are discouraged to apply.
  • NIDHI-EIR seeking support should have a formal business plan, a business presentation including the investment proposal.


The NIDHI-EIR Program would provide subsistence grant to an aspiring or budding entrepreneur of considerable potential for pursuing a promising technology business idea.

  • In case of Scheduled Caste (SC) / Scheduled Tribe (ST), caste certificate from valid government department

This program is open to candidates who can work full-time on their idea, thus students in final year of Undergrad and Postgrad studies are not eligible.
For PhD students, if they are getting fellowship from their institution, then they are not eligible. Also, EIR funds cannot be used for academic pursuits.

An amount of Rs.3,60,000 can be provided as support to a NIDHI EIR fellow in a timeframe of 12-18 months. The grant will be given as monthly fellowship in amount ranging from Rs.10,000 to Rs30,000 per month.

No, The support is for full time working entrepreneur only. Please refer to eligibility section to know more.

Process of selection:

  • Step 1: Evaluation committee will evaluate your application form for program eligibility.
  • Step 2: Telephonic call to be scheduled with shortlisted applicants with selected panel of jury to further evaluate the application based on certain qualifying criteria such as innovation, defensibility of idea, experience/education of entrepreneur etc.
  • Step 3: Virtual Pitch to be conducted with final shortlisted candidates in front of expert committee for final approval of EIRs.

Yes, but only one will be finally provided NIDHI-EIR support, if selected
